Small Erasmus Staff Week in the Karkonosze University of Applied Sciences in Jelenia Góra

From 28th February 2022 to 4th March 2022, as part of the Erasmus+ programme, the Karkonosze University of Applied Sciences in Jelenia Góra hosted lecturers from abroad. Professor William Mosier, an American from the Department of Pedagogy at Gelisim University in Turkey conducted classes on child psychology and language development of children. Ms Tuğçe Apayadin Azman, Head of the Department of Translation from the same university, showed the students various IT tools used in translation. And Ms Raquel Evangelina López Ruano, an Italian and Hispanic scholar from the University of Malaga in Spain, was a special guest during the Spanish language classes.

Small Erasmus + Staff Week in KANS

From the 16th of May 2022 to the 20th of May 2022, the Karkonosze University of Applied Sciences in Jelenia Góra was hosting lecturers from abroad as part of the Erasmus+ program. At the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences students of English Philology took part in classes with Irish professor - David Brett, from the University of Sassari. Professor Brett prepared interesting lectures abors Irish culture, the British press, and phonetics and phonology of the English language. Professor Brett also met with students of the Karkonosze University of the Third Age during an English language course with Kamila Biniek, Ph.D. Seçkin Can, Ph.D. from Ondokuz Mayis University in Turkey prepared classes on academic writing and the didactics of foreign language teaching for the English Philology students. Aušra Šunokaitė coordinator of the dietetics program, who teaches at Klaipėda University in Lithuania conducted theoretical and practical classes, in the new dietetics laboratory and at the Faculty of Medical and Technical Sciences Take a look at the photos from the classes!

He worked  at universities in Japanand England before he moved to central Europe. He taught in Warsaw at SGHand at Czestochowa`s Polonia academy before he moved to the Krkonoše mountains. He lives now in a two hundred year old cottage 900 metres above sea level closeto the Czech/Polish border. He was born in London and educated at universities in Edinburgh and Aberystwyth.He holds an MA In English language and literature from Edinburgh and a postgraduateteaching diploma from Aberystwyth. He enjoys teaching practical language; writing and conversation. His maininterest is classical choral music and he  co manages and sings in a very busy choir. He also loves old cars and dreams of one day owning a 1960s Mercedes He is impressed with the welcome he has received in Poland and is happy because hisstudents are all motivated and enjoy lessons with a native speaker. He looks forward to meeting all students at the university`s open days.Whatever your level please come and chat with Mr Muffett. He enjoys talkingabout all things British especially Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings.

Guest lecturer from the University of Liberec

In the week 17-20 November 2021 English Philology students at the Karkonosze University of Applied Sciences have the chance to meet the lecturer from the University of Liberec: Dr. Iva Koutska, who came in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. In her lectures on 17 and 18 November she dealt with the issue of "Age related variables in the teaching of English." On 19 and 20 November she conducts practical English classes for students at the University of the Third Age. Iva Koutska is an assistant professor and a coordinator for the primary school program at the English department, Faculty of Science, Humanities and Education, Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, Europe. Her main specialization is ELT (English language teaching) methodology. She got her PhDr. in ELT methodology, awarded in 2020 by the Faculty of Education, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic with her thesis "Age-related variables in ELT training". She holds PhD degree in Language Teaching Methodology (with focus on English), awarded in 2016 by the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. Her dissertation thesis dealt with specific aspects of teaching foreign languages to older adults, students of the universities of the third age. Her research interests include:  English language teacher training to all age groups (very young learners, young learners, young adult learners, adult learners and older adult learners) Age-related Variables in Teaching English as a Second Language English language teaching methodology
